The gear screen can look like a mess at first, but Aspects are what turn a decent drop into something that actually supports your build. They add effects such as extra damage after a skill cast, stronger barriers, better resource flow, or a class mechanic that changes how a skill feels. When comparing weapons, armour, or D4 items, it helps to ask one simple question: does this piece have the stats and Aspect your build needs right now. That habit saves a lot of wasted materials later.

Finding the Occultist
The Occultist is the person you visit when an item has good affixes but the wrong legendary power. In towns such as Kyovashad, look for the triskelion symbol on the map. It's easy to miss during the campaign, especially when you're rushing from quest to quest. Once you start replacing gear more often, though, the Occultist becomes part of the usual town loop. You'll use this vendor to imprint stored powers onto eligible Rare or Legendary gear.

What Imprinting Actually Changes

Imprinting is most valuable when the base item already fits your needs. A strong weapon with the right damage stats can become a major upgrade once its missing power is added. There's no point putting a great Aspect on rubbish gear, though. Players do that all the time while levelling, then wonder where their gold and materials went.

The Codex Has Replaced the Old Hoarding Game
Older versions of Diablo 4 made players extract an Aspect from a Legendary item and keep it as a one-use item. That system is gone. Now, salvaging Legendary gear at the Blacksmith records the Aspect in your Codex of Power, and a better roll updates the version you can use. It's a much cleaner setup. Keep checking salvaged loot, because a small increase to an important Aspect can matter more than another minor affix upgrade. Dungeon rewards also give players a dependable route to several useful powers.

A Practical Way to Build Around Aspects

• Check the Codex for the Aspect your main skill relies on.
• Clear its dungeon if you have not unlocked it yet.
• Salvage spare Legendaries rather than filling your stash with them.
• Imprint only when the item is likely to stay equipped for a while.
  

That approach keeps the early game moving without burning through every resource you own. As your build settles into endgame content, stronger Codex rolls and better gear bases make each imprint more meaningful. Saving materials and cheap Diablo 4 Gold for a real upgrade is usually smarter than repeatedly fixing gear you'll replace after one dungeon run.
